Tyler France pitches Huskies to victory

(Covina) – South Hills jumped out to a 9-0 lead after two innings and rolled to a 12-0 win over Covina Wednesday to win the Gladstone Tournament Championship.

Tyler France pitched five strong innings allowing just two hits while striking out six. Richard Rollice sparked the offense with two hits and four ribbies including a two run single in the first inning with the bases loaded. A fielding error allowed another run to score in the four run first.  

France and C.J. Saylor had consecutive hits in the inning to get things started. Saylor had a pair of hits and an RBI.

Covina was its own worst enemy at times committing four errors overall including three in the first two innings.  

It was the second time this year South Hills has beaten Covina. The Huskies routed the Colts 10-3 in the season opener. South Hills improved to 12-4 overall while the Colts dropped to 12-7.
