High School Quarterback Vol. 10

I don’t know exactly what it is but I think I might be going through some football withdrawals.

I’ve been trying to find anything football on television. If not for Netflix and it having all episodes of Friday Night Lights I’d be going mad.

Several high schools are starting Spring Ball in the coming weeks and for many it is time to answer questions of who might be stepping into some vacant quarterback spots.

A name many possibly don’t recognize, unless you are a part of the Mayfair faithful, is Christian Woo.

The returning junior-to-be is in front of the line to become the successor at quarterback.  As a back up last year Woo saw limited action but did carry the ball ten times for 2 touchdowns. As of right now Woo is the only player up for the vacant spot. That is not stopping him from competing and preparing himself for the starting position.

“This off season the team and I have been lifting hard in the weight room and working on our new offense,” said Woo. “On my own time I go to the gym and get my receivers and go work on my throwing and as for passing league I can’t say anything except I’m looking forward to it.”

Look out for receivers Joshua Anderson, Billy Thomas, and Aaron Minor to catch balls this summer and hopefully this fall from the new Mayfair star.

Woo will be filling some big shoes left behind by Evan Hunko who led his team to a playoff win this past year over Diamond Ranch and Burroughs.

Speaking of Burroughs, Senior to be Eli Kai Peppmuller is primed and ready “to bring another pacific league title to the John Burroughs Indians.” Peppmuller is having a great off season preparing himself for the season by “getting stronger, watching a lot of film, and working on my mechanics for next year as well as being apart of the varsity baseball team.”

Last year’s quarterback Lucas Yanez led the Indians to a playoff year where he threw 19 touchdowns and nearly 2,000 yards. Also the team was 6-1 in league and undefeated at home. With that said Peppmuller is “very excited to be the quarterback of this great team next year”.

Pretty excited about the picks the San Francisco 49ers made this past week. Took about the same positions I took as their GM in the Mid Valley Draft. Also USC Trojan Ronald Johnson is sure to help out the receiving core.

More to come with La Serna and Walnut’s Chris Mendez taking over at Que next time.
