FRIDAY’S GAME

DIVISION 5 5:15pm

La Canada vs Beaumont – Two of the best pitchers left in the playoffs face off. The game could go 1-0 or 8-7 as both Lauren O’Leary and Alyssa Fuimaono will be facing some tremendous batting talent.

The Spartans had this game circled a year ago after the loss to South Hills. This season, La Canada is deep in the lineup and can beat you with more weapons.

Anna Edwards leads the team with homers and is one of the best players remaining in the postseason. Aubri Thompson and Megan Siepler are swinging “hot” bats during the Spartans run.

Catherine Horner has the arm strength to throw any runner out trying to steal.

La Canada will rely on its unsung talent of Kelsey Drange, Selina Mohr, Jessica Ogden and Lauren Cox.

Kristin Neal and Bernadette Moreno combined for three homers against Arroyo’s Jaclyn Wagner in the win over the Lady Knights in the semifinals.

DIVISION 3 7:30pm

South Hills vs Oaks Christian – Second straight visit to the CIF Finals, the Huskies were humbled last season against Whittier Christian.

This year, most of the team that was one hit by Courtney McGee will look to avenge its loss last season.

South Hills jumped on Bishop Amat and raced to a 10-1 lead in its semifinal win. Sydney La Follette, Brittney Rodriguez and Natalie Moran combined for four homers in the game. La Follette finished with a game-high four RBI’s in the win. She also pitched a complete game four-hitter.

La Follette is solid in the circle for the Huskies this year.

Sam Nieves, Rodriguez and La Follette each are batting over .400.

Karli Rumburg and Kelly Spear each accounted for two hits in the Lions win over Chino Hills on Tuesday.

Hannah Roberg and Kristin Cullen combined to get the win over the Huskies.

Along with Roberg, South Hills will have to contend with Kiana Quolas and Sarah Carpenter who are batting well above .400 for the season.

Quolas and Cullen have accounted for most of the wins in the circle.

SATURDAY’S GAME

DIVISION 2 3:30pm

La Mirada vs Camarillo – The “miracle” Matadores season continues with a trip to Irvine.

Lindsay Cole, Rochelle Sablay and Amber Hickman each had one RBI in the win over Oxnard in the semifinals.

Hickman had another stellar outing against a good team in the Yellowjackets. Hickman also knocked out #2 seeded Bonita with a shutout.

Sablay has led the team in hitting all season and Courtney Skogen is one of the best outfielders in the area.  Lisa Perez is tied with Sablay with five homers during the year.

The Scorpions have not lost since April 23, when they dropped a game to Chaminade.

The road to Irvine came at the expense of Northwood, Valley View and Irvine.

Bianca Noriega and Hayley Chamberlain lead the team in hitting.

Sarah Shadinger, Kristie Dederick, Noriega and Natalie Noriega all have three homers. Shadinger leads the team in wins with 18.
