Off The Cuff: July 5, 2009

Sorry this is late, still reading the “Mitchell Report”.

Hey it’s long report.  They use big words.

So now lets talk some NASCAR.  It isn’t everyones favorite topic, but I am guessing 500,000 fans just shifted allegiances to Tony Stewart.

The pass for the victory in which Kyle Busch was the recipient of Stewart’s chrome horn was breath taking.

It makes for a great race, but due to Busch’s idiocy and immaturity he has bullseye bigger than the Target sign.

Even though Stewart didn’t want to win that way, most of the fans in attendance were ecstatic with the end result, as Busch seems to have more detractors than actual fans.

It doesn’t help that Busch basically insulted guitar maker Les Paul a few weeks back by destroying a guitar made by Paul after his victory in Nashville.

So now we fast forward to the last lap on Saturday in the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona and watch Busch attempt to block Stewart.  Stewart had the nose of his car already in the space that Busch tried to occupy and the recipe for disaster occurred.

Stewart lightly tapped Busch out of the way.  Busch then shot up the track and into the wall.  He then hit a few cars after the initial wreck.

A NASCAR finish as exciting as you will see at Daytona.

Stewart has managed to get more fans based on his performance this year, than in previous seasons due to winning races as a car owner.

But on Saturday it was knocking out the “black hat” driver on his way to finish that gained him more fans.
