The TEN
(“The TEN” is not a top ten but ten items worth being included in “The TEN”)
—San Antonio Spurs win Game Three of the NBA Finals, 115-111, at Madison Square Garden. New York Knicks lead series 2-1.
—The Lakers beat the Boston Celtics 111-100 in game six of the NBA Finals and break the Celtic curse and win the NBA title on this day in 1985.
—The Brewers defeated the Athletics last night (6/8/26), 15-14. The Las Vegas-bound A’s hit seven home runs. Milwaukee slugged four, but it was Christian Yelich’s run in the top of the 12th that made the difference.
—“Do you know what Google is? It can provide answers to many of your questions, if you are genuinely interested in the answers. Or, are you playing the willfully ignorant edge-lord that is ‘just asking’ to avoid any real consequences to the questions that you ask? This sort of writing style is ignorant and just not funny. Your comments on the WNBA are dripping with misogyny and tiresome. And your dogwhistle comments on ‘politics in June’ reveal your homophobia. Have you tried renaming your article to hateview? For a self-professed man of god, you sure seem to hate a lot of things. And your use of Matthew 18:10–are you being ironic?”—MVS commenter “Proverbs 12:1”
—The Carolina Hurricanes face the Las Vegas Golden Knights tonight in Game Three of the Stanley Cup Final. VGK leads the series, 2-1.
—“Being in the room with him (Matthew Stafford) is just, you know, such a blessing, and I really appreciate him and Stetson [Bennett] taking me in and answering all the questions I have. I know I’m probably annoying them, but it’s been really helpful, so I can’t thank them enough.”—Rams rookie QB Ty Simpson
—“When I feel it, I shoot it. When I don’t feel it, I shoot it anyway.”—Leonard “Truck” Robinson
—Dick Vitale turns 86 today.
—“Big KAT is taking his a$$ to the woodshed, plain and simple.”—Charles Barkley on Karl-Anthony Towns success against Victor Wembanyama at halftime of Game Two on Friday night.
—”Off balance! Unbelievable! Connecticut wins their first Big East Championship. This group of people! Dance, Jimmy, baby! Dance, Jimmy, baby!”—Dick Vitale in 1996 after Ray Allen’s off-balance game winner gives UConn a 75-74 victory over Georgetown for the Big East title. (In actuality it was the Huskies second.)
