The La Puente High School Warriors

Good Afternoon!

So where does Maranatha’s Darien McGee fit right now in the Heisman picture?

Team Ezra (also known as the Alhambra Moors) is 4-0 and could be 6-0 very soon.

Why is it when you see Florida State play Clemson it looks like a college football game? Why is it when you see Cal play Washington it looks like a college football game?

Why is it when you see UCLA play Oregon State it’s worse than hearing a Jonas Brothers song?

No Billy! No! Can I be selfish and say that Billy Livingston’s separated shoulder hurts The Mid?

What a drag, may it pass quickly

“We’re going to be even better next year,” San Dimas HC Bill Zernickow during the summer of 2010.

Back to Westwood: Those UCLA road uniforms can put you to sleep faster than an evening with an insurance salesman.

Is there relief in sight for La Salle, now owners of a 15 game losing streak?

How many times as South El Monte began a season 3-0?

While Baldwin Park with two consecutive wins has brought its season back from the brink, San Gabriel, with its third loss in four games, might be ready to push the panic button.

Last Add BP: The good news for the Braves heading to Valle Vista play is that Wilson and Northview are winless. Nogales is not an overly impressive 2-2, so that leaves Pomona…Unless something is significantly wrong with Billy Livingston, Covina and San Dimas are untouchable in the Valle Vista.

Oh, I’ve always been a fan of Rosemead’s Matt Eddy.

If you’re thinking about selling on Monrovia, think again. As of now Ellis McCarthy’s knee is not going to be a long term problem and a lot of the talent that was there a year ago is still there…Except now they are defending champs.

However, when I said M-Town would have struggles early on bloggers told me I didn’t know what I was talking about, the staff at The Mid told me I didn’t know what I was talking about…

De'Shawn Ramirez has scored 5 touchdowns in three games this year.

Well as of right now the Wildcats are under water at 1-2, they have an issue at quarterback between Blake Heyworth and George Frazier, and their biggest homerun threat  the first three weeks has been De’Shawn Ramirez who didn’t play a down a year ago for well documented reasons.

So don’t sell, but watch carefully.

Word from Santa Clarita last night was Arroyo’s passing game had little trouble with the Hart defense. Problem was the Hart offense had little trouble with the Arroyo defense.

Last Add San Gabriel: You gotta stop the run. Eight of eleven starters back from a year ago on defense, a defense that beat Schurr at Schurr with Aaron Cantu at quarterback, this defense should be able to stop the run.

As Lou Saban says; “You can get it done, you can get it done, what’s more…Is you gotta get it done!”

If parents and players would agree, schools should be allowed to trade and make trades for graduating seniors.

Case in point, Wilson is 0-4 they are not going to the playoffs this season but a player like George Czarnack is wasting away. If parents and players agree deal him to a school that could use him the last half of the season and send an underclassman back to the other school to get some playing time.

When the season ends, the underclassman can revert back to his original school but has now gained some valuable experience.

El Monte should be able to find a home for Manuel Santa Cruz, a senior, who is not going to get much time going forward behind Brandon Martinez.

Who wouldn't love to have Hoover's Luke Tabayoyong on their team?

Have you seen Hoover’s Luke Tabayoyong run the football? Of course you haven’t because he plays for Hoover, but if he could spend the last five weeks of his high school career at a place like San Gabriel, where they could use an experienced back, wouldn’t that be a good thing?

Yeah I know, I know, I know, but fantasy football doesn’t have to be limited to just touchdowns, yards, and the NFL.

Last Add Hoover: Can somebody cut the Tornadoes a break and get them out of the Pacific and then get them out of the Southeast?

When I think of Los Altos being 4-0 my first thoughts go, of course, to Shane Virnala and Scott Tibbs who stuck it out through all the dark times. Seeing the program have success with these guys might be the best story of the year.

The other thing I think about is Conquerors HC Dale Ziola as a Spartacus type figure leading a Los Altos revolt for redemption. How can every game not be personal? How can every match going forward not being about settling accounts?

I have an image of Ziola shouting to his team before taking the field; “There will be blood tonight!”

Ten years ago who would have dreamed of the Conquerors as an underdog?

Los Altos being 4-0 also redeems El Rancho for its Zero Week loss to them. The Dons have gone 3-0 since and are looking better every week.

Mid Valley Sports best prayers and thoughts go out to the Omelette and his family today…

Sympathy for the Devil: Staffer Villathedevil is looking like Nostradamus in his early season support of Arcadia.

When was the last time Temple City started a season 0-3?

Nick Barrientos and The La Puente Warriors are starting to make believers out of everyone…They are now the team to beat in the Montview.

Want to see a good football player? Take a look at South El Monte’s Jerry Valencia at linebacker.

When was the last time South El Monte started a season 3-0?

2000, when Erick Escamilla’s team opened with victories over Workman (38-0), Blair (51-0), and Whittier (10-0).

South El Monte One More Time: The Eagles finished 6-4 in 2000 and missed the playoffs.

Temple City and Chris Reed have a chance to get healthy when they face South El Monte in Week Four

Temple City began the 2010 season 0-3 and started the 2009 season 0-2-1. In 2008 they began the year with a 34-0 hammering of Arroyo at home before losing three straight. In 2007 they began the year 0-4.

Last Add TC: The last time the Rams had a winning record in September was 2006 when they began the year with four straight victories with current San Marino JV HC Riley Saxon at quarterback.

Help me, help you!
