Update 11. The Lakers are being sold to Josh Kushner and Bob Iger for $12.5 billion. Iger and Kushner were involved in the expansion process in Las Vegas but suddenly pivoted to make an offer to buy the Lakers from Mark Walter, who bought the team last year for $10 billion. *Ramona Shelburne of ESPN broke the story Wednesday morning.

The Lakers have been flipped, like a derelict real estate property. I don’t know the details of the feds investigating Walter’s insurance deals, but I really suspect this guy discovered that building a winner in basketball was going to be harder than doing it in baseball. Plus, he wanted to disappoint Torosian.

Josh Kushner, brother of Trump’s son-in-law, and Bob Iger, former Disney CEO, have agreed to purchase the Los Angeles Lakers from Mark Walter’s group for a record $12.5 billion. This follows reports of a federal investigation into Walter’s finances, which include allegations of fraud, along with the fact that Walters suffered a stroke in 2024.
The two buyers had been trying to buy an NBA expansion team in Vegas, but recently pivoted toward acquiring the Lakers franchise. The profit alone that Walters is making on this deal surpasses the total price Steve Ballmer paid for his Clippers franchise.

8) I thought this was scrimmage week for teams with games week zero. I didn’t know that CIF sanctioned week double zero games …. I thought you had to play out of state for this .

From T. Peterson: Yes, the game is at Pioneer HS. Glendale originally had Marshall on its schedule but when Marshall dropped the football program it left Glendale scrambling for a game. They were able to work out a game with Santa Fe but it had to be Week 00 to make it work.
