Warriors Turn Off Lights on Lobos

By Big George Hernandez

(La Puente)- La Puente Warriors quarterback Ivan Vasquez threw four touchdown passes to lead La Puente to a dominating 45-7 win Friday night over visiting Workman at McIntosh Field.

La Puente scored midway through the first quarter and never slowed down. Vasquez hit tight end Brandon Rios on a slant for a 12-yard touchdown score and only 10-seconds later, after an onside kick recovery, Vasquez found Michael Patini for 30-yards to paydirt.

The Lobos didn’t have any answer for Vasquez as he later hit Joey Cinteno for an 8-yard score. With zeros on the clock Warriors kicker Carlos Lopez hit a 32-yard field goal to make it 31-0 at the half.

In the third quarter Vasquez threw his fourth touchdown of the game when he found Patini again to make it 38-0.

Later in the third running back Bryan Landeros ran it in from 18-yards out.

Lobos quarterback Ryan Gomez had the best run of the night for Workman when he ran it in from 10-yards out to stop the shut out.

Elias Oropeza shined the Lobos all night running the ball and playing tough defense. Noel Martinez had a pick for the Warriors.
