Fanview Heavy: October 16, 2011

If El Monte wants its first MVL title since 1979 these are the guys who are going to have to get them there: Samuel Hernandez (#66), Joseph Lopez (#51), Richard Gutierrez (#62), Enrique Gonzalez (#50), and Jesse Gaytan (#56).

Good Evening!

Put Devin Hester in the Hall of Fame now.

You mean Maranatha’s Darien McGee didn’t return a kick-off for a touchdown this week? What’s going on?

Nijinksy, Nureyev, and Baryshnikov, on their best days wish they could have looked as good as El Monte’s Memo Silva did hauling in Brandon Martinez’s game winning touchdown pass on Friday night against Rosemead….Sometimes a little outrageous hyperbole is appropriate…You get my point.

It’s time for some solid discussion about Ivan Vasquez. Who is he? He is the starting quarterback of The La Puente High School Warriors…Currently undefeated.

Glad to see Schurr get off the snide, but how did they hold Bell Gardens scoreless?

You want a name, I’ll give you a name; Cal High running back Gabriel Lozano.

Yes this will create controversy, yes this will be repeated and taken completely out of context…but Rosemead quarterback Adan Guillen makes plays.

Oh, I have always been a Texas Rangers fan…I just wish they would have held on to Richie Zisk. I think he could have helped them down the stretch.

I saw South Pasadena last week, I’m ready to make an argument for South Pasadena. Under the right circumstances I completely believe South Pasadena could “Pull something in the Rio Hondo”…but if you want the love, if you want the buzz…get your roster and your stats posted on MaxPreps…or send the info directly to me at joe@midvalleysports.com.

La Serna might be the quietest 5-1 team around, but there’s nothing quiet about linebacker Craig Jones’s game. The Lancers could really rough up El Rancho this coming week…The Dons needed that one against Santa Fe.

Lost in the talk/shuffle at West Covina is cornerback Lonzell Barnett. Stud.

The New Orleans Saints mismanagement of wide receiver Robert Meacham is criminal. Believe me, I know, when Meacham suffers I suffer.

Temple City would like to buy back the start to this season. The Rams last, and only, winless season was when they went 0-8-1 in 1956.

It doesn’t look like TC will get a thousand yard rusher in 2011.

Note to Keith Knoop: Amigo, you got to get Zander Anding’s stats posted.

The Duarte riddle has been solved.

Last Add Rosemead: Christian Garcia is player everyone should know about…and want on their team.

It’s really going to bug me when next year rolls around and everyone is going to be hyping Pasadena quarterback Brandon Cox…You heard it here first last spring, you heard it here last summer, you heard it here at the start of the season…and you heard it from me—not Villathedevil, Peterson, Bad News, Omelette, the Bigs, or Dawg—I said Cox was going to have a great year…I said Pasadena was going to make the playoffs.

Cox over the last three weeks has accounted for 16 touchdowns running and throwing.

Don’t stress, Whittier Christian-Maranatha will be physical, emotional, and above all practical…This game won’t devolve into a ridiculous, cheap-shotting, flagfest.

Note to Posters: Never use the expression “blah, blah, blah” in the same sentence or paragraph in regards to Arroyo’s Steven Rivera. With six touchdown passes (not 3, 4, or 5) Friday night…six…he is the Mid-Valley Division’s version of Aaron Rodgers…Off the charts.

Note to Coach: Fire the cameraman.

Still, nothing but love for The Ranch.

Last Add Burroughs: “Zander is a nice boy but he will eat anything and everything…” — Indians team parent on the white hot Zander Anding.

“In Time”? Wasn’t it called “Logan’s Run” back in the day?

Never cared for “Weekend at Bernie’s” and after Saturday afternoon’s 48-7 loss, I don’t think Bosco Tech cares for a weekend with St. Bernie’s.

Really Last Add Zander: Can somebody let Fred Roggin know its Zander Anding, not Zander Andberg?

Great bounce back win for Los Altos against Diamond Ranch. I’m sure Dale Ziola in his pregame told his team; “There will be blood tonight!”

…I’m also sure the Diamond Ranch Panthers will get a week long lesson on the fundamentals of tackling from HC Roddy Layton, and its importance in winning football games.

Didn’t you expect a little more from Toby Gerhart at this point in his career?

So after all the drama, all the complaining, all of the wisdom, San Gabriel is 1-0 in the Almont and will be 2-0 after defeating Keppel next week. Oh yeah, after six games Alex Villalobos has caught 62 passes.

Bonita will be back…Because guys like Cameron Griffin keep on playing.

“I’m not going to have you, up in my business when things get real.”— Might be the funniest line I’ve heard in years.

No matter the circumstance, no matter the time, El Monte always seems to have something for Rosemead.

Note to Lions: Do you know what last happened in 1990?

Is it because he played on Thursday that Azusa’s Desmond Reed is not getting any love?

I always preferred my running backs play for the Rams (McCutcheon, Tyler, Dickerson, White, Bell, Faulk) so I never was a big Walter Payton guy. That said why does somebody feel the need to cheap shot him so many years after his passing? Classless.

Illinois looked awful against Ohio State.

I’m not a big fan of fantasy football…it stinks.

Still say, if they met tonight, San Dimas defeats Covina.

“Honestly, I still can’t figure out how Bonita took it to San Dimas in Zero Week.”— Tim Peterson.

If you don’t respect Kyle Herron and La Canada, they will sting you.

I just read over the wires that Missouri is applying to the Pacific League for admittance.

LP Warrior strong safety Jamie Ramirez is a “Bad Dude”

It’s been awful quiet from South El Monte this weekend, can someone talk to me? Can someone tell me why it was so close against Gabrielino?

“We are going to the Rio Hondo along with Glendale, take it to the bank.” — Tornado Insider.

“For sure?”—The Mid

“For sure, Monrovia’s going to the Pacific.”

“For sure?”—The Mid

“You’ll believe it when you see it.”—Tornado Insider

“Can I attach your name to the statement?”—The Mid

“No, that wouldn’t be cool.”—Tornado Insider

Help me, help you!
