Andre Collins named Blair Girls Basketball Coach
Former Detroit Lions linebacker Andre Collins was named the new girls basketball coach at Blair.
The former NFL player brings a basketball coaching credential that includes being a former AAU coach and Sylmar Assistant coach.
Collins most notably was a linebacker with Washington, Cincinnati, Chicago and Detroit in the 1990’s. He currently serves as Director of Retired Players for the NFLPA.
He also played his college football at Penn State University under coach Joe Paterno.
Collins inherits a program that went 11-18 last season and advanced to the second round of the Division IV-A playoffs, where they eventually lost to St. Paul.
The Vikings cupboard is full as they lose one senior from the 2008-2009 squad and return captain Angeline Jefferson and leading scorer Charie Flynn (12.6 ppg).
