LA CANADA 49 FRANKLIN 27

The Spartans cruised to an easy 49-27 victory over Franklin.

La Canada’s defense led the way holding the Panthers to just two first quarter points and began the game on a 13-0 run. Michaela Anderson and Keilee Bessho scored nine of the points in the quarter for the Spartans.

Courtney Chen led the Spartans with 14 points as she heated up in the second quarter by scoring 11 of her points before the half.

The Panthers tried to get back in the game in the third quarter as Tiffany Virgen hit two-three pointers in the quarter and cut a 24-point Spartan lead to 17. Virgen led all scorers with

The win sets up the Pool A championship with Hart and La Canada facing each other tomorrow at 5:30pm.

MOORPARK 51 ARCADIA 40

The Musketeers  came out of the intermission break on a 12-0 run to take control of a relatively close game in the first half to defeat the Apaches 51-40.

Led by Lauren Quinn’s five three pointers in the game and the inside presence of Ariana Halamandaris, Moorpark ran away from Arcadia.

Early on it could’ve gone either way with the Apaches staying close to Moorpark thanks enpart to Michelle Lai’s blocking ability and eight points in the first half to send Arcadia into the break down by four.

Quinn’s deadly shooting in paced the Musketeers in the first quarter as they erased a 4-0 deficit and took an 11-5 lead.

The Apaches leading scorer during the season Melody Chang was held without a field goal in the first half and finished with just three in the game as Moorpark handcuffed her and Julissa Aguirre throughout the evening.

GOLDEN VALLEY 44 FSHA 42

The Grizzlies used a 17-point second quarter to head into the second half with a four-point lead enroute to a 44-42 tournament victory over the Tologs.

The win helped Golden Valley improve to 1-1 during the second game of pool play and dropped FSHA to 0-2.

Lana Hadad led the Tologs with 18 points, while Janae Dean scored 16 for the Grizzlies.

The Tologs kept it close for much of the game but foul trouble late in the game hurt as Hadad fouled out and allowed Dean to score the final two points of the game which was the deciding factor.

HART 67  RAMONA CONVENT 47

The Indians averted disaster with a 22-6 run to start the fourth quarter to derail the Tigers upset bid in the second game of the evening with a 67-47 win.

Cyndi King scored 13 points in the fourth quarter to help lead the rally as Hart fell behind by as many as eight in the third quarter.

Heading into the final stanza, the Indians looked as though it would fall victim to the biggest victory in Ramona Convent history as they began down by seven points.

In a span of 1:52, Hart cut the lead to one-point when Kallie Kennedy battled inside for a rebound and put back. Five seconds later King finished off a fast break to give the Indians its first lead since the five minute mark of the third quarter after Melissa Chan scored from 15-feet for a 20-19 lead.

The Tigers managed to score 11-unanswered points to start the second half. Most of the points came from sharp-shooting guard Catherin Yip who led all scorers with 20 points. Yip scored 12 of her points in the quarter.
