Thursday December 29

Temple City 54 Keppel 51

Kasmir Khaliq scored 15 points and Matt Der and Goren Lee each scored nine to lead Temple City to a 54-51 win over Keppel Thursday night. Garrett Masada led all scorers with 21 for Keppel in a losing cause.

Muir 61 Maranatha 58

Muir had three players in double figures and had to hold off a Maranatha charge in the fourth quarter to beat the Minutemen 61-58. Jelani Mitchell had 17, Tevin Polk tossed in 16 and Michael Cockrell scored 13 to pace the Mustangs.

Jeremy Major led all scorers with 33 points for Maranatha. Major hit from long range and also got in the lane several times especially late in the game to keep Maranatha close. Marantha went up by one with just over two minutes left on a bucket by Andrew Elffers but were unable to hold on.

Michael Demeester was the only other player in double figures for Maranatha with 12.

“I told our guys in the pregame that we had to handle their press and rebound defensively and I thought for the most part we did a pretty good job,” said Maranatha Coach Tim Godley. “But we had a couple of glitches towards the end of the game and it cost us.”

Muir remained undefeated with the win improving to 11-0. Maranatha dropped to 10-3.
