There really is a place called "Maine" and people really live there who don't think it's weird to always want lobster...

“The Across America Edition”

Good Morning!

T-minus-32 until “The Mid Valley Classic”

Game One: October 12, 1956 at Arroyo

The Knights Dale Trock goes over left tackle in the third quarter for the contest’s only score and a 6-0 Arroyo victory over Temple City in the schools first meeting…

(How’s that for research?)

Back to vacation…

Is it just my family or are all southern Californians awed by a flowing river? The Susquehanna, Delaware, Hudson, Alleghany, Missouri, Charles…and of course the Colorado and Mississippi…and our mouths drop as if an alien spaceship has landed in the parking lot of a Cracker Barrel…

Hate to admit it, but we haven’t hit a Golden Corral yet…I know, I know that’s bad form…

Toll roads, in my view, are reason enough for another American Revolution…How does the old Coven song go?… “Now the valley cries with anger mount your horses and draw your swords…”

Saw New York today for the first time…Crossed the Washington Bridge…saw the Bronx, Queens, the Empire State Building…they can keep it…If I never see the place again, I will praise the Lord…

Portland, Maine, where I downed my third of four lobsters in two days, on Saturday is someplace I could live…I think…Probably need to experience a taste of winter before making that kind of call…

Misnomer Department: While in the south the “southern accent” is very noticeable, in New England not everybody has one…What I mean is more people say “chowder” than “chowda”…

Sort of hard to keep up with the sports thing, but I hear the Giants are believing again since the Dodgers have hit the grease…

Every time I go on vacation I see places I would like to live and feel so faraway from the go-go lifestyle we have is SoCal…Then I think twice about it…but one thing I have figured out while logging 3,500 miles so far on this vacation…everybody wants to be us…Whether it’s the family on the farm (God Bless them)…or the socialite in the big city (God Help them)…they all want to be from California…and they just aren’t that cool…

I’m not saying Californians are all good, I’m just saying we are cool…

In Gettysburg for two days…you know something? I think I could live here…

Stay thirsty my friends…
