Sources close to Mid Valley Sports from inside the Del Rio League have confirmed that Santa Fe will announce Dave Pierson as its new head football coach.
Pierson, who has served as an assistant in the Del Rio, guided Jurupa Valley to a 6-3-1 record in 2011. He led the Jaguars for six seasons in two stints as head coach. First from 2005 thru 2008 and then after a season away (2009) he returned to helm the program two years ago. In 2010 Jurupa Valley finished 1-9 but improved by five games last fall to finish fourth in the Sunkist league.
The arrival of Pierson marks the first time since 1977 that someone other than Jack Mahlstede (Who retired at the end of the season) will be leading the Chiefs football program.
