Vincent Albelo threw a complete game shutout for Gabrielino
(El Monte) – Francisco Gonzalez had four hits and four runs batted in to lead Gabrielino to a 7-0 shutout over Arroyo Friday. The Eagles remain in control in the Mission Valley League with and 8-1 record. They are 10-7 overall.
It was the second shutout of the week for Gabrielino, after a 7-0 blanking of South El Monte on Tuesday. Gonzalez had a double and a triple to lead the 11 hit attack. Angel Acosta had three hits, drove in a run and scored three times.
Vincent Albelo got the victory going the distance and allowing the Knights just two hits. He struck out seven and walked five.
With South El Monte falling to El Monte 3-1, Gabrielino moved a full three games ahead of second place South (5-4). Arroyo dropped to 1-7 in league and 2-12 overall.
