Rams, Moors are Finals Bound

Corey Copping pitches the Rams into the CIF Finals

Temple City 2 St. Bonaventure 0

Corey Copping fired a complete game shutout and went three for three at the plate to lead Temple City to a 2-0 victory over St. Bonaventure Tuesday and into the CIF Finals for the first time in school history. Copping allowed just five hits while striking out five.

Cameron Legrand singled in a run in the third inning and the Rams added another in the fourth while Copping did the rest. Temple City has knocked off Kaiser, Don Lugo, and Granite Hills before taking care of St. Bonnies in the CIF Finals run. Next up is a date with Palm Desert Saturday night in the Division 4 Finals.

Alhambra 6 Beckman 4

The Moors rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to beat Beckman 6-4 at home Tuesday and advance to the CIF Division 3 Finals. Alhambra’s run to Cahvez Ravine has included wins over Carter, Whittier and Lancaster before the win over Beckman.

The Moors will face Bonita Friday at Dodger Stadium at 1:30 pm.

Palm Desert 3 Monrovia 0

Former Temple City National Little Leaguer Brian Serven fired a complete game shutout to lead Palm Desert to a 3-0 win over Monrovia Tuesday and into the CIF Division 4 Finals. Serven, who pitched for the Dodgers at Milham Field before his family moved out to the desert, struck out four and allowed just three hits and did not walk a batter.

Serven also had a hit and two RBIs at the plate while brother Jonathan went two for three with an RBI and a run scored. Palm Desert picked up all three runs in the third inning. Ironically Palm Desert will now face Temple City in the Finals Saturday night at UC Riverside.
