San Juan Hills Roughs up Viewpoint, 42-13

Stallions wide receiver/cornerback Scott Hoover scored on a 55-yard interception return in the first half, and on a 49-yard pass to open the third quarter.

(Westlake Village) – Viewpoint turned the ball over three times in the first half and once more in the third as San Juan Hills, 0-10 in 2011, beat the Patriots 42-13 in the season opener Wednesday night at Oaks Christian High School.

“We’re going to watch the film,” said Viewpoint HC Chris Adamson told his team. “And we’re going to learn.”

The Stallions were bigger and stronger.

What the film will show is his team’s inability to produce a consistent offensive threat and two of the four turnovers, interceptions, being returned for touchdowns. One of 55-yards by Scott Hoover in the first quarter. The second by linebacker Logan Newlan from 28-yards out with three minutes to play in the third. Both picks were off Patriots starting quarterback Dalton Jacklitsch, a transfer from Heritage Christian (formerly L.A. Baptist).

Jacklitsch took several hits before yielding to freshman Zack Chulak. In the final minutes of the fourth quarter Jacklitsch was being interviewed by the team trainer to assess for a possible concussion.

The Stallions led 14-0 at the break thanks to Hoover’s pick six and an eight yard touchdown pass from Jacob Gibson to Corey White.

In the second half it was all San Juan Hills, Hoover scored first, Newlan scored last, and in between White added a 15-yard touchdown run and Brad Kremer scored from a yard out.

Freshman quarterback Zack Chulak was able to engineer a couple of late touchdowns for Viewpoint.

Viewpoint, a member of the Alpha League with Sierra Canyon and Paraclete, was able to avert the shutout with pair of late touchdown passes against the San Juan Hills “2s”.

Chulak first connected with Noah Doneen for a 78-yard score and on the contest’s final play he hit Lukas Jacklitsch from three yards. No point after attempt was tried with the clock expired.
