Inglewood 21, Burbank 14 (OT)

Despite a combined eight turnovers by both teams, the Sentinels (1-2, 0-0) scored their first win of the season with an overtime win over the Bulldogs (1-2, 0-0) Friday night at Inglewood’s Coleman Stadium.

After Burbank took a 7-6 lead at halftime, the Sentinels reclaimed the lead after Burbank’s punt attempt at their own 38 sailed over the head of Christopher Shamirian and the Sentinels recovered the ball on the Burbank seven-yard line, then scored on Trevor Benton’s rush.

Benton would score the Sentinels’ touchdown in the first overtime period, but on their half of the overtime, quarterback Zak Tomlinson fumbled the ball inside the 10 yard line and the Sentinels recovered the loose ball, securing the victory.

The Spartans took a 6-0 lead on their first possession as Eric Perez scored on a five-yard run, but Panthers quarterback Xavier Beltran tied the game with a one-yard score early in the second. The Panthers’ kicker Mario Giron put them up for good on his 50-yard field goal that double doinked off one of the uprights and the crossbar with less than a minute left in the half. The Panthers held a 9-6 lead at halftime.

Allen Salguero added a touchdown as part of his 57 yard output.

Despite scoring three touchdowns, Jesus Nodarse was stopped late in the game by the Condors’ (3-0, 0-0) defense as they held on to beat the Indians (1-3, 0-0) Friday night at Whittier District Field.

Nodarse rushed for 215 yards on 21 carries and had two rushing scores of 70 yards or more. However, the Indians were plagued by 12 costly penalties in the game, including a running into the kicker penalty that allowed the Condors to run out the clock.

Aaron Garcia scored the game-winning touchdown for the Condors with 5:48 left in the game, rushing the ball from 21 yards out, capping a 69-yard drive.

Chino 16, Los Altos 0

The Cowboys (2-2, 0-0) got touchdowns from J.C. Carradine and Jonathan Lazard as they shut out the Conquerors (3-1, 0-0) Friday night at John Monger Stadium.

The Conquerors were limited to only 64 total yards of offense in the loss, which ended their three-game winning streak.

Paramount 48, Long Beach Wilson 35

The Pirates (2-1, 0-0) relied once again on the running prowess of the Dixon Twins, Deonte and Devonte, and Alex Turner, who combined for 230 rushing yards and five touchdowns as they keelhauled the Bruins (0-4, 0-0) Friday night at Wilson High.

Deonte rushed for 110 yards on 19 carries and scored three times, two rushing touchdowns and a 100-yard interception return. Turner had 70 yards on 10 carries and a score, while Devonte had four carries for 50 yards and caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Lamont Odom.
