The Peterson Principle 9/24/12

Who’s that stiff with Vic the Brick?

Haven’t we seen this before? The Raiders win a big early season game over a possible contender and all the silver and black honks come crawling out of the woodwork proclaiming that they are ready to make a Super Bowl run.

Can we just get back to reality and look at this for what it is? The Raiders are 1-2 and they just beat the Steelers who are…oh 1-2 also. They haven’t had a winning season since 2002 and they haven’t won a Super Bowl since 1984 (1983 season).

They have a first year coach this season and haven’t had a coach stay longer than three years since Jon Gruden (1998-2001). Everybody thought the Raiders would get better after Al Davis passed away but it’s the same old thing.

The administration appears to be as disorganized as ever. Hue Jackson led the team to an 8-8 record and a second place tie in the AFC West last year and was promptly fired for his efforts and replaced by Dennis Allen who has no previous head coaching experience. Did you know Allen is the seventh Raider head coach in the last 11 years?

Commitment to excellence? More like commitment to ineptitude. Anyway with that being said I wish all the best and an MVP type year to Darren McFadden. As the owner of the LA Express I need that to happen.

Gladstone has clearly established itself as the best team in the Montview and possibly one of the top five teams in the Northwest Division. The Gladiators are 4-0 after blasting Montview League contender  La Puente 37-7 Friday night and have scored 140 points in their last three games. They’re getting big production out of quarterback Kevin Amezquita, (483 yards passing, 506 rushing), Aaron Sanchez (315 yards rushing, six touchdowns) and Christian Arteaga (189 yards receiving, two touchdowns.)

Gladstone’s still faces tough tests against Duarte and Azusa but if the Glads get past those two they could run the table.

Great news to hear that La Puente quarterback Ivan Vasquez is back home after being taken to the hospital from a tackle Friday night. Vasquez laid motionless on the field for several minutes before being carted off. The game was called with just under ten minutes left in the fourth quarter. Thoughts and prayers go out to Ivan from the Mid Valley staff.

Speaking of running the table, San Marino won’t. The Titans, (4-0), should win their next four but they’ll lose to Monrovia in their ninth game and they could get bit by South Pas the last week of regulation if they aren’t careful. San Marino is playing good football. I mean, heck the Titans have outscored their last two opponents 108-0. But I do have a suggestion. How about getting some rosters and stats up on Max Preps so we can give these guys a little more ink.

Monrovia will be just fine. With guys like Anthony Craft, Mason Bryant, Brett Walsh,etc. They won’t have a problem. But the Wildcats do need to be careful thinking they can turn it on at any moment.

South Hills would be better served in the Southeast Division.

Can we something put to rest right now. Rosemead beat San Gabriel Friday night. It wasn’t the officials, although they were bad, it wasn’t an off night by the quarterback, it wasn’t the color of the uniforms or the weather. It was Rosemead playing tough defense and winning the game. Yes, the Matadors had more total yards than the Panthers but Rosemead made the defensive stops when it had to, especially in the second half.

San Gabriel has an explosive offense which is why even more credit should be given to the Mead.

Former Arroyo quarterback Steven Rivera has picked up right where he left off at Whittier College. He threw for 254 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 33 yards to lead the Poets to a 55-24 win over Puget Sound Saturday.

I’m sure the Panthers are happy they won’t have to see him this year.

That’s my principle.

    Black and Silver? Don’t you mean the Silver and Black. I don’t think I ever heard the Raiders referred to as the Black and Silver.

    South El Monte’s Defense will stop the run game of San Marino and the secondary of the southmen will stop the pass game, and the eagle offense just woke up so they will put up some points. South El Monte will end San Marino’s run at home.

    All you Rosemead expert HOMERS are right again. We were so afraid to tackle Carmerena that we went through and around him all night to sack your QB ten times. Yep, we manipulated the stats that is posted on Maxpreps for the whole world to see. Finally, anyone who points out the facts are piss off little girls. CLASSIC!

    Well, THIS SEASON REPRESENTS SM’S BEST CHANCE OF BEATING MONROVIA IN A DECADE. In past good years the Titans came into the RHL with great won loss records but those records were the result of a weak, super weak preleague. The preleague has been bolstered – but still needs better opponent boost. As I have said from before the season began, this team is real – and has the talent and direction to make some noise in the Mid. Though these games are weeks off – So Pas will not stand up to what the Titans can bring offensively. If M-town overlooks the BMW boys, they too may fall in the first Cat RHL loss in many moons.
    I say now – San Marino can win the RHL title outright.

    @Bobby Knight,

    I agree that South Hills and Glendora would be good fits in the Southeast division. But the Hacienda league is already overpowered as it is in the SE. West Covina, SH, Glendora…the third place finisher in that group would either win or finish second in all the other leagues like the Pacific, Del Rio, Suburban and SGV league. They would have to form a whole new league, just does not seem right that teams like Bonita, DRanch and Los Altos would miss the playoffs wile some weaker del rio or suburban teams make the dance. Also, Walnut and Rowland would be contenders in the Mid-Valley regularly when they get a somewhat average class of atheletes. Again there are weaker teams in the Whittier area and Pasadena area that should get dropped down before Walnut or Rowland. For example, Cerritos was outscored 234-0 in four games this year before they dropped Varsity football last week! JMHO.

    If the Dawg gave me a Bingo lets go for the gold. Punish schools that want a football program but continually under perform for decades and make a league out of them their punishment being travel costs. Keppel, Marshall,Bassett, Nogales,Cerritos,Glenn,Ganesha,Pioneer, then the Champ gets automatically moved up the next year and somebody goes down from CIF. Does anyone go to watch these weak sisters play? They might if they have a chance aginst each other. I mean midget wrestling always draws a crowd.

    Sg beat sg, you sound like a pissed off, poor sport of a coach who can’t accept the fact that you lost to a sorry rosemead team. Stop crying and stop trying to manipulate the stats (typical sg fan) in your favor in order to prove yur pathetic point. The one fact you are missing is that your team LOST!

    then again you can say its rosemead d which caused the 4 interceptions.. and its rosemead d that caused the fumble to the house but youre a sg guy, so obviously “that fumble was just a mistake because the kid wasnt holding on to the ball like he was suppose not because of the D, and they return it 73 yards because SG didnt wanna go try to get camerena, not because they couldnt makes sense i guess. but hey, youre a SG guy, of course theres got to be excuses

    @tpeterson,
    Yes, you’re right. A QB throwing four interceptions in one half isn’t a bad night and Rosemead played great defense giving up four hundred yards of total offense. Meanwhile, SG’s defense sucks giving up one hundred yards of total offense, sacked Rosemead QB ten times, and allowed three completions for seventeen yards. SG’s defense sucks for giving up sixteen points: six points came on a fumble return, PAT was blocked, three on a FG after gaining just five yards on three plays, and a fifteen yard TD run when the drive started on the fifteen after turn over on downs and two encroachment penalties. Hey, but you’re the professional, what do I know?

    Put Glendora and South Hills in the Hacienda and Walnut and Rowland in the Mid-Valley. Now that would make both leagues alot more fun.
