1. Alabama – Put a 53-7 beating on North Texas to remain atop of the Mid Valley Poll.
2. Texas – Knocked off a Texas Tech team without Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree. Not overly impressive but a good win against solid competition.
3. Florida – 23-13 win over Tennessee less than impressive. Move up by default after USC loses.
4. Ole Miss – Dropped the hammer on Southern Louisiana 52-6 but it was Southern Louisiana not LSU. Still solid enough win to move up a spot.
5. Cal – Five TD’s for Jarvid Best against Minnesota. Get a win against SC and the PAC ten should be the Bear’s.
6. Penn St. – Joe Pa’s Nittany Lions roll along against Temple 31-6.
7. Cincy – Win over Oregon State 28-18 most impressive so far. Bearcat schedule for the next few weeks should keep them in the top ten.
8. LSU – Breaks into the top ten at eight with a 31-3 win over Louisana Lafayette. Have a chance to move with two top 25 teams in their next three games.
9. USC – UGH! 16-13 loss at Washington was 2009 let down. Yeah Pete, we know the PAC 10 is tough but National Champions win the tough ones. Matt Barkley breathes a sigh of relief knowing his job is safe!
10. Ohio St – Toledo has the unenviable duty to play the Buckeyes after their loss to USC. For a team looking to take out some frustration 38-0 is just okay.
Plus others in the top 25 recognized for local talent:
Oregon State- Got bumped by Cincinnati 28-18. Lance Mitchell gets three more tackles to add to his season totals.
BYU – Maybe if the Cougars gave Lee Aguirre a little more playing time in the secondary Florida State wouldn’t have dropped 54 on them!
