I have always been a Burroughs fan!!!

I have always been a Burroughs fan!!!

Good Afternoon!

San Gabriel needs to take no prisoners against Contreras and get back its confidence. The Mats aren’t the Mats without the swagger.

Not wanting to pat myself on the back, but how about some major props for not using any references from the film “The Warriors” when writing last night’s game story between La Puente and South El Monte? Although, I do have to admit, when James Fernandez scored his second touchdown from 68-yards I was tempted to scribble “CAN YOU DIG IT!” in my notes.

…And I definitely wasn’t going do put down anything like “Warriors come out and play!!!”

Note to South El Monte Faithful: The fans that supported the Southmen in all their glory over the last four years need to be there for this team in this transitional season. Down 35-0 they could have quit, but didn’t.

It may be tough to come by tonight, but Burroughs needs a win over St. Francis tonight. The Indians have dropped seven straight to the Golden Knights, but I’m going to go out on a limb and pick Keith Knoop’s tribe to get the upset. Lucas Yanez (12 of 15 2Tds vs. South Torrance), Dalton Williams, and resident “Bad Dude” Charlie Hosea will be the difference.

Last Add South El Monte: We like Arnold Barbosa’s toughness.

Since I’m a creature who likes tradition I’m glad to see Temple City’s Max Ruckle is on track for another thousand yard season, which would be the 12th consecutive thousand yard season for a TC tailback.

Tony Dorsett, who I never liked as a player, is right on the money with his criticism of Dallas quarterback Tony Romo. Thank goodness I wasn’t foolish enough to draft him…No I was stupid enough to draft Braylon Edwards because I thought he would have a bounce back year.

He’s only thrown 24 passes in two games, but has Rowland’s Michael Ball done anything to discount the fact he is the Southeast Division’s best quarterback? Name a better one?

Who is going to get the start for Charter Oak tonight against Rancho Cucamonga Josiah Thropay or Travis Santiago?

Last Add Ruckle: Another area coach told me yesterday he would love have Ruckle on his team.

This could be a long year for South Pasadena…and since we’re on a South theme…I’m glad I wasn’t in the South Hills locker room last night.

…And since we’re still talking quarterbacks who is going to be the Huskies starter this season Brock Booth, Jacob Shirley, or last night’s guy Vince Hernandez?

Name of the Day: Schurr lineman Marcoantonio Jaramillo

Stay thirsty my friends…
