1. Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony each score 34 points but it was Pau Gasol’s dunk that iced the Lakers 100-94 win over the Knicks on Christmas Day.

2. The Lakers are 6-9 on Christmas during Bryant’s career with the Lakers.

3. In the 1974-75 NBA season Bob McAdoo averaged 34.5 points per game to win the only league MVP award in the Buffalo Braves/San Diego/Los Angeles Clippers franchise history.

4. Brad Corbett, who owned the Texas Rangers from 1974-1980, passed away at age 75.

5. Former Cincinnati Red utilityman Ryan Freel dies of an apparent suicide at the age of 36.

6. Indianapolis Colts HC Chuck Pagano returns to the sidelines after missing nearly three months while being treated for leukemia.

7. The Covina Christmas Tournament starts today and runs through December 29.

8. Downey’s Robert Salazar and Tristan Esparza finished one-two in total tackles in the Southeast Division with 146 and 132 respectively. Arcadia’s Austin Ford was third with 130.

9. Gahr’s Caleb Baumann led the Southeast in passing with 2373 yards.

10. Former St. Louis Cardinal Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith turns 58 today.
