1.) Legendary El Monte wide receiver Ray McNeill passes away yesterday (1/24/13) at the age of 50.

In 1979 McNeill caught 90 passes for 1,453 yards and 17 touchdowns for the Lions. He earned a scholarship to Weber State and led them in receiving in 1983. The record setting 1979 season was highlighted several times this past fall when current El Monte receiver Abel Barajas broke the touchdown reception mark with 18.

2.) Since 2005, NFL viewership on TV is up 24% while primetime broadcast TV viewership is down 22%.

3.) Former Arroyo and ELAC linebacker Gabriel Zendejas turns 23 today.

4.) The New Orleans Saints have fired defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, former St. Louis Rams HC, after one season.

5.) On this date in 2011 Brian Zavala stepped down as head football coach at (Hacienda Heights) Wilson.

6.) Northview Vikings (Jr.) cornerback Nicholas Ybarra 2012 stats: 83 tackles, 4 passes defensed, 2 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery.
