4.) President Obama welcomes the 1972 Miami Dolphins to the White House today to honor their perfect season but linemen Bob Kuechenberg and (Hall of Famer) Jim Langer, along with defensive tackle Manny Fernandez will not attend because of political differences with the administration.

6.) On this date in 1945 Tommy Brown of the Brooklyn Dodgers became the youngest player to hit a home run in a major league ball game. Brown was 17 years, 8 months and 14 days old. The Dodgers lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates 11-1.

7.) According to Rob Ruck, in his book “RACEBALL”, 25% of the player in MLB were African-American in the 1970s. Presently only one in ten players are American’s of African descent.
