2. Red Sox pitcher Ryan Dempster is suspended five games and fined for intentionally hitting the Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez Sunday night.
3. The Dodgers’ Yasiel Puig is fined for showing up late at Marlins park Tuesday night before the team’s game with Miami but leads off the eighth inning with what proves to be the game winning home run in a 6-4 Dodgers victory.
4. The Angels officially shut Albert Pujols down for the year. The Angels are 16 ½ games back of Texas and in fourth place in the AL West.
5. The Lakers will wear newly designed short-sleeve jerseys in several games next season.

7. The Eagles name Michael Vick the starter going into the 2013 season.
