Heralds Rally Against Cantwell

(Montebello)- Whittier Christian improved to 2-0 on the young season with a 32-17 victory over Cantwell-Sacred Heart on Friday night.

The Heralds were trailing 17-15 at the start of the fourth quarter before rallying for the victory. Quarterback Ryan Esslinger was only 10 of 18 for 131 yards, but two of his completions to wide receiver Noah Evans went for touchdowns.

Evans caught six passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns. WC also got a lift from running back David Fischer who rushed for 121 yards on 14 carries. Esslinger contributed 44 yards on the ground along with a touchdown.

On the defensive side of the ball linebacker Jack Huitt blocked a punt and recovered it for a touchdown. Dylan Murphy was in on 12 tackles, Matt Triviso along with Chase Pimental had picks.

Unbeaten Whittier Christian plays at Whittier (2-0) next week, while Cantwell (0-1) goes to El Segundo (1-0).
