(La Canada) – In the Battle for Angeles Crest, Crescenta Valley rode a 28-0 in the first half to cruise to a 42-14 win over cross-town rival La Canada.

Brian Gadsby only played one half but threw for one touchdown and rushed for another in the second quarter to help lead the Falcons. Gadsby relied on a short field for most of the game as he went 7 for 13 in the first half for 23 yards.

Joe Torres went 6 of 10 for 131 yards and touchdown during his second half stint.

The Falcons set the tone with their defense as Kevin Hello returned the Spartans first play from scrimmage back for a 15-yard touchdown.  Crescenta Valley stepped up big on La Canada’s next series as the Spartans got within the Falcon six-yard line. In two successive plays, La Canada backed up and ended up with no points.

**** Falcon’s running back Jonathan Jun scored from 4-yards out to finish an 11-play drive in the first quarter to make the score 14-0.

****Mario Martinez rushed for 41 yards on 19 carries for the Spartans.

**** La Canada’s attempt at a fake-punt ended up being a night mare as Byung Kim set the Falcons up at the La Canada 10-yard line.

****Robbie Fuelling went four of 12 for 73 yards.

****Special Teams play hurt the Spartans as they had one field-goal blocked and one punt blocked in the first half.

****On the final play of the second quarter, Gadsby hooked up with Jordan Lobianco for a 7-yard touchdown pass to send the Falcons into the locker room up by 28-points.

****Donnie Breneman kept the Spartans close scoring on two successive possessions from one-yard out.

****Two turnovers by Crescenta Valley in the third quarter helped give La Canada some momentum as they worked the short field for two scores.

****After two shaky series, Torres finally got into a grove with a few screens to Jun to set the fifth Falcon touchdown as Lobianco hauled in a third and 20 pass for a touchdown.

****Lobianco finished with four receptions for two touchdowns.

****Falcons face Pasadena at Pasadena High School next Friday, Spartans travel to Eagle Rock on the same night.
