Linebacker John Mendez has been one of the keys to TC's turn around.

Linebacker John Mendez has been one of the keys to TC's turn around.

With league play starting, there should be more movement in the Old School 12. The Mead could take a giant leap with a stunner, M-Town needs to be careful with San Marino…and SG needs to remember Keppel is due for an Almont victory. Note to Moors: Keep Schurr offense off the field. Old School Mid Valley appears weekly at www.midvalleysports.com

.) Monrovia: Rested and ready for Rio Rumble. The unsung on this team could very well be Christian Blanco: kicker, runner, defender…Ryan Maddox’s “Mr. Wonderful”.

.) Alhambra: When worlds collide, Moors take on Schurr for most if not all the Almont marbles. Alexander Bird is preying on opponents for Coach Gil.

.) Arroyo: Wins are nice, but Singiser expects more from this team and should. Is it fair to say Matt Phillip might be the key to the entire season?

.) Temple City: The first five weeks have been a quiz, now the Rams get their first test at LC. We are remiss in not mentioning the excellent play of John Mendez at linebacker.

.) San Gabriel: Need to get focused and deal with business at hand: Keppel. Once coach says the Aztecs scare the h-e-double hockey sticks out of him. Arthur Brown is back.

.) Arcadia: If Pasadena beats Burroughs last week doesn’t look so bad. Still the Pacific season is long enough to recover from anything, but will they? Good news is Gabriel Rousset is only a sophomore.

.) Rosemead: As far as the poll goes, Koffler is where he wants to be. An upset on Friday and the Panthers are back on track and projecting the fear of the Lord in the MVL.

.) El Monte: The playoffs start this Friday against Gabrielino. Soph receiver Memo Silva quietly having a nice season.

.) Gabrielino: See above…and remember nothing is over.

.) South El Monte: Still in the mix.

.) Mt. View: Still have a shot.

.) Duarte: Need to provide Tip Sanders a larger stipend, better facilities, no interference and the worm will definitely turn in D-Land.
