Northwest Top 20 (10/10/2013)

There are 31 teams in the Northwest, but only five might have a capability of winning it all, and there are ony two super powers, who most likely face off in Week 14…and we’re not talking about Valley Christian playing South Torrance.

.) Nordhoff (5-0): This team just keep pushing the envelope and it keeps expanding. Great team.

.) Bishop Diego (5-0): A great team, a final four team in the Mid-Valley division, but only second best in the Northwest.

.) Oak Park (5-1): The OP story will be written when they knock off one (both) of the big two.

.) Carpinteria (6-0): Great start, but where are they going to be in a month?

.) Whittier Christian (3-2): Tough schedule takes its toll. Best team in the Olympic but now they have to play all of these rivalry games.

.) La Salle (3-2): If they shut the door on Verbum Dei this week, they will enter the playoffs with an 8-2 record.

.) La Puente (4-1): Might be more than just the last team standing in the Montview. Problem is the six teams ahead of them are good, real good.

.) Lawndale (4-1): Pioneer is down, Lawndale is up,…sell…sell…sell!

.) Santa Paula (5-1): Really good start but Einstein Tech is in the rearview mirror and the top four teams in the Tri-Valley are in front of them.

.) North Torrance (2-3): If any team has the talent to make a dent in the top five and spark a playoff run its the Saxons.

.) El Segundo (2-3): See, North Torrance. These guys have a puncher’s chance.

.) Village Christian (2-4): Commend them for a tough schedule, but is Hanckel healthy?

.) Maranatha (4-2): May go on a run if Devine is fine…

.) Bishop Montgomery (4-2): Just when they start knocking on Heaven’s door, turns out there’s a trap door under the welcome mat. We want to believe!

.) Verbum Dei (4-2): Balboa got his shot against Creed, Verbum Dei gets its shot against La Salle.

.) Azusa (3-2): These guys keep on trucking. What would Scherf do if he had Nordhoff type of material?

.) Cantwell (1-4): Just hanging around…

.) St. Bernard (3-2): Nice return, may make the playoffs, but after Week 11 we’ll have some lovely parting gifts for you. Thanks for playing.

.) Centennial (1-4): Can lightening strike in the playoffs again? First they need to get there.

.) Heritage Christian (3-3): Three wins? It is the year of Jubilee!
