Other programs had more wins, six offenses in the division scored more points, but what Chris Williams did running his team’s offense in 2013 was amazing. Also remember this, he did it without a prototypical quarterback, the team was 0-10 the season before, and the playmakers surrounding the quarterback he did have were all underclassmen.

With 5-9, 185 tough guy Michael Moran playing quarterback Williams schemes produced 3,354 and 34 touchdowns through the air. Key receivers in Jayson Miller and Raymen Barraza caught 25 of those scoring tosses combined. Add to that a running game that worked, but was hardly dominant.

The Braves were 0-10 in 2012 and expected to go nowhere. Williams was abused on the message boards not only for last year, but was also abused on the boards in the time he served as the Wilson OC under Brian Zavala. Yet, Baldwin Park finished 7-4 this season.

Of course Williams knows football, but we complement him for the grit to face the worst of it and still trust his system. We trust he’ll be successful in the future, wherever he lands.
