Opening Night is a Winner for KISS

LA KISS(San Antonio) – Kenny Spencer booted a 35 yard field goal as time ran out to give the LA KISS a 41-38 opening night win over San Antonio Saturday night. The victory was the first in franchise history for the KISS.

KISS quarterback J.J. Raternick completed 17 of 34 for 166 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw two interceptions. The first touchdown in franchise history came with 10:44 left in the first quarter when Raternick found Donovan Morgan for a 21-yard scoring strike and a 7-0 KISS lead.

San Antonio bounced back with a pair of touchdowns to take a 14-7 lead but Raternick scored the first of his three touchdowns on the ground just before halftime and it was tied at 14 at the break.

The Talons led 38-35 late in the fourth but the KISS tied it at 38 with 43 seconds left and then forced San Antonio into a quick three and out to set up Spencer’s game winner.

Former USC quarterback Mitch Mustain completed 27 of 46 for 256 yards and four TDs for San Antonio to go along with two picks.

Morgan was Raternick’s favorite target with six receptions for 65 yards and was on the receiving end of both of Raternick’s touchdowns. Next up for the KISS is a trip to Orlando Friday night.
