Kick it!

Hey what do you know…Baskin Robbins finally got “Baseball Nut” in the ice cream case. Nothing like a little media pressure to change the world.

This might have worked better in a poll, but what brothers would you take? The Pennys (Robert, Elijah, Rashaad), the Canadas (Jesse, Jordan, Jaime), or the Sumlers (Desean, Deon, Tra)?

The San Francisco Giants named Jeffrey Leonard community ambassador. This is funny when you consider that Leonard’s nickname was “Penitentiary Face”.

Look-a-likes: Actor Chris Pratt (Zero Dark Thirty/Moneyball/Parks & Rec) and Arroyo alum/assistant coach Kenny Andrew.

PSA: The “Jim Brownfield Memorial Golf Tournament/Scholarship Fundraiser will be held May 30th, at Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena. Sponsored by the Pasadena/San Gabriel Valley Chapter of the National Football Foundation (the folks who sponsor the local Hall of Fame game) its goal is to help raise dollars to advance local athletes to the next level of education. New Mexico, Villanova, Creighton, Gonzaga, San Diego State, are teams I will always, and have always rooted for in the NCAA Tournament. (I’m going to add Cal Poly to this mix.) This time around I have to admit I’d love to see Wichita State run the table.

UCLA? Yeah, kind of, as a USC basketball fan one of the few joys I had growing up was seeing the Bruins suffer painful tournament losses in the post-Wooden era. I admit I  did root for them in the 1980 title game against Louisville when they had Kiki Vandeweghe and a bunch of freshmen.

Norwalk is looking for a Week One opponent. Might be a good time to catch the Lancers, they haven’t got a Penny to their name.

Have you seen the bubbas San Gabriel is returning next fall? Lots of weightlifting, good attitude, and why can’t they make some noise in the Almont?

Good move by Burbank to stay within and hire Richard Broussard.

Burbank One More Time: You know about quarterback Ryan Meredith and James “The Body Electric” Williams at running back. But two other offensive guys you might want to keep an eye on in 2014 are running back Tony Toledo and wide receiver Dorian Householder.

Does Maurice Jones-Drew have anything left in the tank? Running backs are a bad investment. Especially when you see where the St. Louis Rams drafted Zac Stacy last year.

Last Add NCAA Tournament: I never fill out my brackets until after the games are played. You might want to try this, because it always works for me. I’ve had a perfect bracket each of the last three years.

Burbank One Last Time: They are young on defense.

Regards:

In regards to Auburn hiring Bruce Pearl: He’s a poor man’s John Calipari.

In regards to 1980 UCLA: Pasadena’s Michael Holton was on that team.

In regards to Ghostbusters III: Isn’t it a little late?

In regards to KLAC 570: Does anyone listen anymore?

In regards to WR Golden Tate & the Seattle Seahawks: “I’m going to earn in one year at Detroit what Seattle was going to pay me for two years. Seattle offered numbers that were laughable. I thought, ‘I’ve given you everything and this is what you give me?’ “Considering I was there for four years, and started two of those years. I missed one game in those two years. I did everything right and wasn’t a trouble maker.”

The Dude abides…
