Kick it!

Time to say thank you…

While I struggle with the really nasty stuff that gets through sometimes in the comments box, and the even worse stuff we find and delete…There are times folks send us content, under the radar, that is more fun to read than an old Alan Malamud column.

From inside Crescenta Valley word is Brian Gadsby confirmed to teammates he is NOT playing football next fall. Gadsby owner of a “wicked” fastball is getting feelers from all over the place has decided to focus on baseball.

Where does this leave the Falcons? They have a nice team, but HC Paul Schilling needs to find a triggerman or CV will be battling for third behind Burbank and Muir in the Pacific League.

Speaking of the Pacific…Speaking of Burbank…Running back James “The Body Electric” Williams has given his verbal to Washington State.

Oh, I’ve always loved football in the Palouse. Jack Thompson, Ricky Turner, Clete Casper…Bernard Jackson!

Another good idea is to follow Tim Peterson, Duane Barker, and myself on Twitter during the NFL Draft. If you like snarky, petty, and psychotic criticism…then you got to hang with us on Twitter at 5:PM on Thursday night.

The rest of this is not official…The information arrived initially via email…I’ve spoken to several coaches…All were hesitant about going on the record until things were finalized, and I can understand that…But the following I give, as it was given to me, as a bone to start chewing on until the official football divisional alignments come out…and possibly debated on June 10th. This is the proposal I was clued to.

Ka-Boom!
Tuesday’s debate on “The Mid Valley Sports Show” centered around making sure the Palomares was included with the Hacienda and the rest of the Southeast division. We argued that the Del Rio was a better fit for the Mid-Valley, and that the Alpha could go to the Northwest with the Tri-Valley exiting the Northwest.

So this is what I got this morning as being proposed. The Palomares and Hacienda go to the Central…with the Mt. Baldy and Sunkist Leagues…as well as the Rio Hondo League…(Say What!)…That’s what I was very clearly told.

The Southeast would be comprised of the Del Rio, Suburban, San Gabriel, Pacific, and Mission League, which now consists of Harvard-Westlake, Cathedral, La Salle, Salesian, St. Francis, and St. Paul.

The Mid-Valley would be the Mission Valley, Almont, Valle Vista, Montview, the new Miramonte, and the Gold Coast (I haven’t confirmed it, but one Coach told me “Gold Coast” is the new name for the Alpha League). This would create a six league division, which my best guess means only the first and second place teams are guaranteed playoff spots, leaving the remaining four spots a big scramble.

The Northwest in this proposal would be the Olympic, Del Rey, Ambassador, Prep, and we think, not sure, the De Anza…There is also a sixth league in this this mix and it is not the Tri-Valley.

What can I say?

Nothing like a third place team in the Rio Hondo going to Charter Oak for a first round playoff testimony to parity. Or the optimism Glendale must feel knowing if it can sneak into the playoffs they might only have to travel a few minutes to play St. Francis. I see a balanced football field with Whittier on one side and Cathedral on the other. La Salle couldn’t get out of the first round in the Northwest, but now if they finish third in Mission they could get a date with Norwalk or La Mirada.

It’s interesting, it could be exiting, but, at least in football terms, this is anything but parity.
