CV Flies to Win in Claremont Tourney

It was a great Saturday for the Falcons

Crescenta Valley scored a 22-12 decision over Bishop Amat on Saturday to claim the Claremont Passing Tournament.

“We played exceptional defense with Ty Hill and Brandon Beardt having key interceptions,” said CV HC Paul Schilling. “And Jordan Lobianco playing shut down corner.”

Offensively, the Falcons got great days from Connor Van Ginkel and Robby Benson at receiver. At quarterback time was split between junior-to-be Evan Nelson and sophomore-to-be Ty Hill. Both played well.

On the day CV was 6-0 with wins over Burroughs Ridgecrest, Chino Hills, La Salle, Granite Hills, Palisades, and Amat in the finals.

“It was a great day for us,” Schilling said. “Especially since we are still missing from baseball Chase Walker, Wes Walker, and hopefully Brian Gadsby.  We are also still missing to injury Bostin Lakin starting wide receiver from last year Bostin Lakin (he’ll be back in two weeks) and starting running back from last year Kyle Tavizon (recovering from a concussion).”

Teams participating: Claremont (HOST), Bishop Amat, Crescenta Valley, South Torrance, Chino Hills, Burroughs Ridgecrest, Canyon (Santa Clarita), Granite Hills
Palisades, La Salle, Citrus Valley, and Valley View
