Good Evening!

Credit to San Gabriel and Isaac Valdez in the big win over Alhambra. The Mats with back to back impressive victories, look to be playing with a chip on their shoulder… That’s good. Two games left, and its all in their hands.

Final Add San Gabriel: SG DC Donald Bernard’s unit has taken a beating the last few years from the Moors, but they stepped up big time Friday night.

Is there a requirement in this business to watch the World Series?

I honestly thought Philly’s Pete Happy knotted things with his bottom of the eighth blast…Then again where there’s a Lidge, there’s a way…

Note to Those Considering Walking Out on Their Teams: (Without naming names)…There may be a bad dude feel to walking…there may be a sense of you putting something back in the faces of those you perceive have wronged you…but but as someone who has worked a long, long, long time with young people I can tell you, you are only hurting yourselves. A decision to walk, quit, will haunt everyday of your life.

Quitting will become easier, coming back will become harder, and regret will come with each passing year and every pound you pile on.

Think twice before you quit, because a good program, and a good coaching staff will go on…no one player will collapse either of those…They’ll just reload and move on without you…

Arcadia played great against Burbank, but B-Bank was the superior squad in the sense that it had so many weapons.

I was watching the way the Bulldogs went after it and the first thing popping into mind was Schurr, circa 2006.

Don’t get street rat crazy on me, I’m not predicting a CIF championship, what I am saying is the components are there. This includes a playmaking quarterback in Adam Colman, who might have a different build than the Spartans Joe Orduno but produces similar results.

With that said Arcadia linebacker David Schuil could play for me any place, any time…Great ball player.

Did anyone believe in week one that South El Monte would travel to Gabrielino in week nine with ‘The Fate of the World” hanging in the balance?

The Eagles Anthony Molina was money Friday night against Rosemead. I believe its appropriate to say; “Don’t doubt the South!”

Ouch! Friday night had to hurt down at The Ranch.

USC’s defense played so poorly Saturday night I sort of felt sorry for the Oregon offense. They were on the field for a long time, the Ducks must have been worn out posting 600-plus yards on Troy…

Last Add Burbank: Sam Bethany…ball player…flat out.

In the case of Arcadia: The Apaches will miss the playoffs for the second consecutive season, the first time that has happened since 1983 & 1984…The last time Arcadia suffered a two win season was in 1987 when it finished 2-7-1…The last time they suffered a one when season was in 1974 when they finished 1-8…The last time they went winless was forty years ago in 1959.

The Apaches are currently 1-6-1.

In case anyone writes off Arroyo as getting fat on a league schedule much less than difficult…just remember they are devouring opponents… Not just beating them, but scarfing on them and spitting out the bone.

Didn’t I ask for a Sam Torres page on Facebook earlier this year?

Oh, by the way, I’m finished with college football…

In the Home of the Camellias Max Ruckle cleared a thousand yards for Temple City, but equally notable are leading tacklers Victor Dominguez, Carlos Motor, and Sean Stanton all have over 90-tackles and should clear the century mark by the end of the regular season.

Oh yeah, and Tim Sanderson has 84-tackles.

For San Marino a season holding so much promise is now on the ropes with jelly legs…

Retractions & Corrections Department:

#1: I did not know Detroit Piston forward Charlie Villanueva’s lack of hair was a physical condition when I took a shot at him in the October 29th edition of Fanview Lite.

My apologies to him and others with the condition…I thought it was a fashion thing…

#2: Two weeks ago Carson E. Powers reported Arroyo quarterback Steven Rivera threw five touchdown passes, in actuality it was four.

#3: Friday night Carson E. Powers looked at the wrong score sheet when he reported to the Mid Valley staff that Arroyo quarterback Steve Rivera went 59-yards to Anthony Miller to the contest against El Monte.

For penance Powers was given the choice of an evening with a Amway salesman or be subjected to an on air interview with Andy Villathedevil…He’s chosen the arsenic…

Really Last Add Burbank: Bulldog trench warrior Michael Williams is a pleasure to watch.

On this date in 1990 Rosemead’s Clint Kerr fell on a fumble in the end zone with 47-seconds to play to give the Panthers a 32-28 victory over Duarte. The Falcons fought back from a 25-0 halftime deficit to take a 28-25 lead 4:45 to play.

On the same night in Burbank, Alhambra’s Russell Stanley carried the ball 27 times for 218-yards and three touchdowns in the Moors 32-13 victory over the Bulldogs.

Last Add Arroyo: We’ll have to check with Arroyo stat historian Steve Singiser, but quarterback Steve Rivera’s 18 touchdown passes this season might be the most ever by a Knight sophomore at the position. Dominic Salmon’s numbers need to be checked for 2003, and Kenny Smith’s in 1995. Both excelled as sophs.

The Clippers are 0-4…all is right with the world.

Really Last Add San Gabriel: Did you know three year starting quarterback Isaac Valdez has accounted for 60-touchdowns via the pass and the run in his career for the Mats?

Stay thirsty my friends…
