Saul “Canelo” Alvarez earns split decision
(Las Vegas) – Saul “Canelo” Alvarez did enough to win Saturday night at in Las Vegas. He landed more power punches and applied enough pressure to emerge with a split decision over Erislandy Lara before a packed house at the MGM Grand.
On the judges scorecards, Dave Moretti had it 115-113 for Alvarez and Levi Martinez scored it 117-111 for Alvarez. The other judge, Jerry Roth had it 115-113 for Lara. Alavarez and Lara were even early but Alvarez finished strong winning five of the final six rounds on two scorecards and four of six on Roth’s.
