Top Ten: Northwest Division (10/7/2014)

By Joe Torosian

Lots of big league games this week. Is there room for an upset or two? Absolutely…but not likely. I’ll give the kiss of death to Maranatha and go with them big…I like Templeton and I like Arrowhead Christian. Still believing Cantwell’s best football is still to come.

1.) Maranatha Minutemen, 6-0 (Olympic League): The Crusaders versus the Minutemen this week, Olympic League supremacy, and of course…the fate of the world! Valley Christian is the last best chance to stop these guys before playoff time.

2.) Arrowhead Christian Eagles, 5-0 (Ambassador League): Keep winning, keep rolling, but need to beat a tough Notre Dame-Riverside this week.

3.) Nipomo Titans, 3-3 (Northern League): Thankfully non-league schedule is over, now its time to see if it paid off.

4.) Templeton Eagles, 5-1 (Northern League): Have won five in a row but will be tested by Mission Prep this week.

5.) Pasadena Poly, 5-0 (Prep League): Beating Firebaugh this coming week will not help the Poly RPI.

6.) Big Bear Bears, 5-1 (De Anza League): Where there’s a Wolf, there’s a way.

7.) Cantwell Cardinals, 4-1 (South Catholic League): Said they needed to drop 50 on Bosco Tech or they would drop out of the top ten, they dropped 45…28 in the first quarter so they get to stay and move up.

8.) Mission Prep Royals, 3-3 (Northern League): Good team, struggling offensively beyond Dyllan Smiley. Season outlook will be determined this week.

9.) Valley Christian Crusaders, 4-2 (Olympic League): Two tough losses in last three weeks. Have a shot at Maranatha, but right now it looks like a long one.

10.) Village Christian Crusaders, 4-1 (Olympic League): A loss to Heritage Christian this week will drop them out of the Top Ten.

Others (in no order): Rio Hondo Prep (2-3), Twentynine Palms (4-1), St. Bernard (4-2), Heritage Christian (4-2), Notre Dame-Riverside (4-1), Flintridge Prep (4-2).
