(San Marino) – Charter Oak advanced to the Central Division Semifinals with a 49-31 victory over San Marino on Friday night.
The Chargers were led by Zion Echols who rushed for 320 yards on 26 carries and five touchdowns.
The high-scoring Titans were limited to just 10 points in the first half as they fell behind 28-10 heading into the break. San Marino came out firing in the second half as Carson Glazier found JP Shohfi for a 15-yard score.
The Titans added another score quickly as Glazier found Aiden Santino for the second time on the night to get as close as four points before Charter Oak took the momentum back from San Marino quickly as they marched down the field to score on a Kam Brown to Brian Casteel 21-yard pass reception.
*** Brown finished the night going 13 of 16 for 211 yards and two touchdowns. The longest pass play came early in the fourth quarter when he found Casteel for a 53 yard completion that led to one of Echols touchdowns on the very next play.
***Casteel finished the night with 127 yards receiving on six catches and one touchdown.
***Dareon Nash caught three passes for 45 yards to be second on the team for the Chargers.
*** Echols’ scores were from 20, 10, 63, 12, and 83 yards. The final score of 83 yards sealed the victory for Charter Oak.
***Glazier finished the night with 401 yards passing after going 23 of 45 and three touchdowns. He also ran for 14 yards on the night.
*** Shohfi finished with a game high nine catches for 167 yards and a touchdown.
*** Santino finished the evening with four catches for 129 yards and two touchdowns of 76 and 16 yards.
*** Total combined offense for both teams was 911 yards with both teams throwing for 610 yards.
*** In the all-time series Charter Oak has failed to lose a game to San Marino now improving their record to 4-0.
*** The 31 points scored by Titans was the lowest scoring output of the season. Their previous was 35 in a loss to California early in the season.
