Frank Castro: 4 JUNE 1955-8 DECEMBER 2014

My father was a member of the 1972 Bonita High School Football team, the team that lost the first Smudgepot to San Dimas High School in its first season of Varsity Football.  Crazy to think about that.  We used to always talk about where Bonita would be if San Dimas was never built, how good would we be?

Our relationship changed when I started college and then became a man.  We were on level ground, we’d talk about all kind of things.  I didn’t know it until September, when I was talking to a colleague about our parents legacy, and that I told him to look at himself.  He was his father’s legacy.  I did not know it at the time I’d be here.  I am my father’s legacy, he must have been pretty good then.

When he’d tell me about stuff, I had no idea, could not fathom the impact he would have on this community.  Being a Bonita Bearcat means a lot to me, but it meant so much to my father.  In his latter years after I’d graduated he spent a lot of time as a patron and fan of Bonita Athletics.  He could be seen often on the sidelines at home and away games whether it was Football or Girls Basketball.  He was always there in support of his Bearcats.  He will be missed.

His services will be held:
