(Glendora) – Azusa Pacific jumped out to a 20 point halftime lead and rolled to a 94-70 rout of Holy Names Saturday at the Felix Event Center.

The Cougars had seven players in double figures. Robert Sandoval led the way with 12.

Andy Jones and Kevin Stafford each scored 11, and Troy Leaf, Bruce English, Lydell Cardwell and Will Ward all added ten for the APU in a balanced attack.

The Cougars were red hot from the field shooting 55 percent overall. They were 9 of 22 from three point land shooting at a 40 percent clip. Stafford hit three from long range and Sandoval knocked down two.

Azusa Pacific also dominated on the boards outrebounding Holy Names 47-32.

The Cougars were too just too fast and too accurate for Holy Names early on. They shot nearly 60 percent in the first half (59.4) including 5 of 11 from three.

When they weren’t drilling shots from the perimeter they were getting good looks down low. 54 of the the Cougars 94 points came down in the paint compared to just 24 for Holy Names.

Forward Dante Robinson was the main offensive weapon for Holy Names leading the way with 24 points. Robinson hit four three pointers and was 10 of 18 from the field overall. Jamarae Moss added 11.

Leaf left the game late in the first half with an ankle injury and didn’t return.

The Cougars improved to 13-1 on the season and are leading the PAC West with a record of 6-0. Holy Names fell to 2-11 and 0-5.
