Christian Soldier! SD Saint Sack Master Christian Morgan will be key to his team's victory Saturday night

This is the official response to Tim Peterson’s “10 Reasons why Monrovia will Win”… Why I think the title is coming to SD, Peterson’s assertions are bogus, and why the Saints will be most excellent on Saturday night.

1. They’ve Never Lost a Title Game – Of course the Saints have never been there, but I would rather be 0-0 without a plate appearance, than to be 0 for 8 (which is what Monrovia is in the big game).

2. The Factor of Nine – This is Monrovia’s ninth title game, they’ve lost them all. They’ve lost in 1999, they’ve lost in 1959…The Saint stud Jordan Taylor wears number nine…

3. The Full House Backfield – In Ryan Kohler, Tre Evans, Dillon Corona, Jordan Taylor, and Shawn Kennedy…San Dimas has five players who can take it fully to the house at anytime.

4. Sack’em & Rack ‘em – The Wildcats have allowed 152-points this season…The Saints have only allowed 151…M-Town has recorded 30 quarterback sacks this season…SD, counting totals from the semifinals, has 60… Monrovia’s Ellis McCarthy has nine sacks…That’s nice…But San Dimas’s Christian Morgan has 22…

5. Schuster Syndrome – In 2007 Craig Schuster was the HC at Azusa…In 2008 he was the DC at San Dimas…In 2009 he arrived at Monrovia… The Saints have already disposed of the Aztecs…Guess who’s next?

6. Twice Won’t Be Nice – True, Monrovia has already beaten San Dimas this year, but beating a team a second time around is very difficult. SD HC Bill Zernickow has not lost consecutive games to the same team since 2006.

7. Bad Mojo – Monrovia has already lost a finals game on December 12…In 1997 they fell to Mira Costa 28-14

8. Temple City Connection – Even with Monrovia success, the Rams have always found a way to get under their skin…Bill Zernickow’s father Rip Zernickow (wearing the legendary #22) starred on TC’s first league championship team…and current San Dimas defensive coordinator Brian Mustain was a stud linebacker for the Rams in the early 90’s….Bill Zernickow was the HC at Northview…in the 1980’s the Vikings won their only CIF Title in a 21-18 victory over Los Altos in 1987…The N-View head coach that year was former Temple City standout Brian Beveridge (who played with Rip Zernickow at TC)…

9. Big Plays?– First of all the Saints have outscored the ‘Cats 513-points to 474… I will agree M-Town has some home run hitters, but I’ll argue SD has more… However, more important than the big play is the ability to bludgeon and wear teams down. With a powerful offensive line and a Terminator in Kohler the Saints have the ability to grind and keep those Wildcat playmakers watching from the sidelines.

10. Gear – The last time I received gear from Monrovia it was 2005…I received a lid from San Dimas this spring…Of course you know what this means? Title, San Dimas, Excellent….
