"I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had!" Temple City ex-patriots Art Carrington and Doc Martin share a moment on the sideline this fall.

Good Afternoon!

I purchased tea pots, candy dishes, chocolates, and sweaters for my Mom, but I never, NEVER, bought her Christmas shoes.

It won’t happen this year (and good thing), but did you know Monrovia has lost three CIF Finals on December 14? On that date in 1935 they lost to Santa Barbara, in 1959 they lost to San Diego, in 1973 they lost to Crescenta Valley.

For the third straight year Diamond Ranch will end its season against Charter Oak, a team they have never beaten

The way I see it the BCS totally ripped off Boise St. and TCU…These teams played each other in a bowl last season…they are spectacular this season and the reward is to face each other again instead of a perennial power.

They’ll take Fiesta Bowl money, but wouldn’t they have rather had a shot playing Ohio State, Florida…or, if the BCS is into the rematch, how about Boise State going to the Rose Bowl to play Oregon again?

I understand contractual obligations, I also understand the BCS is still a joke, and I especially understand they were happy to have the two outsiders face off again instead of embarrassing a traditional power (Like Utah did Alabama in the last Sugar Bowl).

For these schools its about earning the respect of a nation while operating in a system as rigged as the federal government.

Its safe to assume whoever wins between Monrovia and San Dimas on Saturday night can hardly be called Cinderella…

Although, just by virtue of record…a Diamond Ranch victory over Charter Oak on the surface looks to be the equivalent of the “Miracle on Ice”…

I was looking to make a joke about San Dimas being alright Saturday night as long as they have Corona on draft…or is that tap?… Peterson! Gimme a lil help here…

The way things have been going for Charlie Weiss the last few years, I don’t know if Jimmy Clausen should take his recommendation about entering the NFL Draft early…Brady Quinn was supposed to be NFL ready as well…

And Weiss giving advice at this stage is kind of like Al Gore preaching about the dangerous of global warming…

Last Add Notre Dame: No doubt, Golden Tate is ready for the NFL.

No truth to the rumor that Matt Koffler will be the new head coach at Bassett.

On this night in 1972 Temple City rolled to a 38-13 victory over Northview at Citrus College in the 2A Division Semifinal. The Rams were led to their 42nd consecutive victory by Mike Nanko’s 152-yards and three touchdowns rushing.

On the same night Los Altos advanced to the 3A Finals with a 12-0 victory over La Habra. Rob Hertel threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Kirk Tanner and Dave Price rushed in from a yard out to improve the Conquerors to 10-0-2. The Highlander season ended at 11-1.

Did you know the entire San Dimas offensive line is made up of underclassmen?

It’s safe to say La Canada Lady Spartan Shannon Denney is off to a good start.

(Look it up)

The great thing about CIF football is that it brings people together…Old friends reconnect, laugh, talk, share, and plot destruction on their rivals…I love it.

Stay thirsty my friends…
