The California Showcase will be held on Saturday, February 21st at the Orange Country Great Park in Irvine, CA. —The Showcase is a FREE, one-day, non-profit event presented by former UCLA coach Terry Donahue and the National Football Foundation for high schools seniors to display their skills to Division II, III, and NAIA football programs. 7.) Former Notre Dame/CFL/Kansas City Chiefs QB Tom Clements takes over play calling duties for the Green Bay Packers.

8.) Three head coaches from the 1977 NCAA Final Four have now died. Al McGuire (Marquette), Dean Smith (North Carolina), and Jerry Tarkanian (UNLV). The fourth coach was Lee Rose of UNC Charlotte. In three seasons there he went 72-18. In 1978 he went to Purdue for two years, went 50-18, and led the Boilermakers to the Final Four in 1980. Then at the age of 44 he bolted for South Florida and fell into mediocrity.
