(San Gabriel) – Gabrielino jumped out to a 21-8 first quarter lead and never looked back in a 70-34 rout of Rosemead Friday night to wrap up a perfect Mission Valley League run. For the second straight year the Eagles went undefeated in league and have now won 25 consecutive league games dating back to 2013.

Eli Peters led the way with 29 points (18 in the first half) for Gabrielino and Bryan Pham added 11. Rosemead was held to single figures in every quarter  except the fourth. The Panthers only managed 13 points in the first half and were down by 20 at the break.

Peters scored 11 of the Eagles 21 points in the first quarter while Rosemead hit just 4 of 14 shots. The Panthers weren’t much better in the second converting just two of 14 from the field and 0-5 from the free throw line. Down 33-13 at the half the Eagles fans were already chanting “Start the Bus!” at the Rosemead players.

The games was played with a running clock during a majority of the fourth quarter. Rosemead finished 3-14 for the game…from the free throw line.

Uzi Felix and Grant Kirchoff each added eight for the Eagles. Felix had six in the third quarter.

Ethan Chan was the only Rosemead player in double figures with 13 points as he knocked down three from the beyond the arc. No other Panther had more than four.

Rosemead ended the season 10-14 overall (5-7 in league.) Gabrielino went 21-4 overall and 12-0 in the MVL. The Eagles now wait to find out who their first round playoff opponent will be.
