Former Arcadia Assistant Eric Elias lands at Buena Park

By Tim Peterson

(Buena Park) – Former Arcadia assistant Eric Elias has been hired as an assistant coach at Buena Park. Elias, who spent 10 years at Arcadia, (5 as a position coach and 5 as a coordinator), is looking forward to his new opportunity.

“I’m taking myself down to Buena Park to join Coach (Anthony) White and Coach (Jude) Oliva. Hope we can take it to the next level. I’m super excited,” Elias said.

White feels Elias is a valuable addition to his staff. “We are extremely excited and proud to announce the addition of Eric Elias and the Elias family to Buena Park. Eric is a great, young, energetic and motivated coach that Jude Oliva and I feel is a perfect fit for our program when it comes to hard work, dedication, discipline and truly caring for student athletes we have here at Buena Park,” White said. “We are extremely blessed and grateful that Coach Elias has chosen Buena Park to be his new home.”

Last year the Coyotes finished 11-2 overall and lost to Trabuco Hills in the Southwest Division semi finals.

Top flight- I don’t think anyone said that coach was a know it all but he has a lot of respect from a lot of coaches around the area. They all agree that this coach gets the best out of the kids he coaches. And he has a good grasp of knowledge of the game. Isn’t that enough? Good luck BP

BP still is not going to beat La Habra, White just talks smack all the time. Even when they were “going to have a great team” they could not get it done and this coach is not going to make any difference. And what has Elias done at Arcadia that, make him a know it all.

Anthony white is a good coach but not great! they became way better with coach Jude playcalling, Coach Jude goes to any team (san Gabriel, Maranatha,) and immediately he makes them matter. College coaches should pick up Jude as a position coach in order to later become the OC,

Anthony White has done a fine job of attracting kids from the surrounding area to attend BP instead of the school they are suppose to attend. Anthony White has gotten some kids recruited. Anthony White is the best thing to happen to Buena Park since Knotts Berry Farm. Anthony White has done an average job at Buena Park. Anthony White would’ve done the same as the last coach at BP if Anthony White had to play with the same kids. Anthony White loves to talk smack on private schools because Anthony White can’t compete with them on the field. Anthony White loves Anthony White.
From T. Peterson: Anthony White has done a great job of turning the program around. If you have a problem with “recruiting” or transfers go talk to CIF. Why haven’t there been any ineligible kids then? You’re complaining to the wrong place. Apparently there hasn’t been anything illegal. Also I have to say your Obsession with White is a little creepy.

Anthony White and staff have done a real good job at BP. The Mid does a fine job covering many teams with SGV ties. If you don’t like it than don’t read it!

@realTalk, YOU are the problem with high school athletics. Measuring programs by the number of kids who get out. How many kids has LS put out in the last four years? I don’t know but my guess is less and BP so does that mean Coach White is a better coach than Coach Beltran? I don’t think so. This is the problem with kids today, it’s a what have you done for me attitude? Which is fostered by misguided parents thinking their kids are D1. College recruiters will find kids no matter who they play for if you really deserve that scholarship you don’t have to put your kid in 5 schools in 4 years to figure it out. Going back to sleep now. Wake me up when BP get the finals even two years in a row or wins one. Let’s start with a league championship first. Keep coaching a group of kids who don’t care about each other and preach you are family. Still hasn’t translated to championships. #Keepdreaming Nighty Night.

    @realTALK,

My dude, why not talk about schools like long beach poly, corona centennial, serra, charter oak? Those schools had a ton of players recruited as well. My point is bp is not in the sgv, why write about them? Why not let the big boys like LA Times or OC Register write about them? Who cares if a long time sgv asst coach joined the staff. Keeping real

Last time I checked none of the SGV teams put out 6 kids to the next level in the same year, let alone two years combined! Haha I love the SGV but come on dude! Speak “la verda” DAD!

    Earth to @Realtalk,

BP is nowhere near the SGV!!! Still trying to understand why this team continues to get so much pub??
From T. Peterson: Arcadia is right in the heart of the SGV and that’s where Elias coached for 10 years. So him landing at Buena Park is obviously relevant. Also if you read our site with any regularity you’ll notice we don’t cover just the SGV. We have expanded our coverage over the last several years – especially in football – and will continue to expand as long as we are running Mid Valley Sports. If you’re not growing, you’re dying.

Anthony White- has turned the BP program around! They weren’t even a factor before he got there!
Jude Oliva- turned around the SG team around and led them to the CIF championship game vs maybe the best Monrovia team.
Eric Elias coached a C+ Arcadia team to back to back league championships (tough league) and obviously is a desirable addition from what we’ve heard from the midvalley.

What team in the SGV has a better coaching staff? A credible one with this much experience?
Good luck to these three coach! Plus they all played for teams in the SGV! Go SGV!!

What more can I do? I show pump up videos of me and the great things I’ve done at BP. Sure I haven’t won league and this was the first year I’ve won a playoff game but I get kids out. Isn’t that what high school football is now? Who cares about your team when it’s our family and by family I mean individuals who only care about getting recruited. Why else would they want to come play at BP. It surely isn’t the incredible coaching. When I have to play teams that get coached I get blown out, this is why I don’t play JSerra anymore and why I’ve added Western. I want to pound my chest and show how great I am by winning 70-3. Let’s face it. I’m just as self serving as the parents who bring their kids here to play. #Thiscoachrules #BPAllstars #NAIAisoktoo #HopeMazottaRetiresSoon
From T. Peterson: For the record this isn’t Coach Anthony White. I just spoke to him. He doesn’t care what people say about him but “don’t say they’re him.”
