Jake LeGrand had two hits for Temple City in the win over San Marino

Temple City won in dramatic fashion Friday scoring four runs in the top of the seventh to erase a 1-0 deficit and beat San Marino 4-1 in the Rio Hondo League opener.

Lefthander Josh Speakes went seven strong innings, allowing five hits and Tyler Hazlett halted San Marino threats by gunning down two runners at second. Jake LeGrand and Gabe Juarez each had two hits for the Rams.

Monrovia banged out 11 hits in an 11-0 rout of South Pasadena. Nick Garcia had three hits and three RBIs and Zach Zepeda had a pair of hits and a couple of ribbies. The Wildcats got three in the first, three in the fourth and five in the fifth.

Brian McConnell went the distance for Monrovia striking out seven and allowing just four hits. He did not walk a batter.

Monrovia and Temple City square off Thursday at Temple City.
