(Evansville, IN) – Troy Leaf scored 29 points but it wasn’t enough as Azusa Pacific fell to Indiana (PA) 69-65 Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Leaf was 8 for 21 from the field overall and the Cougars made just two field goals in the first ten minutes of the second half. APU led 33-31 at the half. Leaf hit a three with 11 seconds left to cut the lead to 66-65 but APU couldn’t get over the hump.

Azusa Pacific knocked off Western Oregon, Cal Poly Pomona and Cal Baptist to advance to the Elite Eight. The Cougars finished 27-6 overall and were only the second team to reach the elite eight in its first year of post season eligibility on the Division II level.
