1. Josh Speakes goes six strong innings allowing one run and Steve Aparicio has two hits and four RBIs to lead Temple City to an 11-4 win over Citrus Hill. The Rams advance to the quarterfinals.

2. The Dodgers trade Juan Uribe to the Atlanta Braves for Alberto Callaspo. The deal is pending Major League approval.

3. The Dodgers are second in the league in home runs with 60.

4. “I hope the fence he’s straddling doesn’t have too many splinters.” – MVS Commenter “Having it both ways” on Tim Peterson about his column “The Peterson Principle.”

5. On this date in 1975 the Philadelphia Flyers won the Stanley Cup in six games with a 2-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres. Goalie Bernie Parent is named MVP of the post season.

6. LeBron James scores 23 points to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 118-88 rout of the Atlanta Hawks and a four game sweep of the Eastern Conference Finals.

7. San Dimas beats Garden Grove 17-0 to advance to the quarterfinals. The Saints are now 30-0.

8. Three of the five games between the Anaheim Ducks and the Chicago Blackhawks in the Western Conference Finals have gone into overtime, including Triple OT in Game Two and Double OT in Game Four.

9. UCLA is the number one seed in the College World Series.

10. Happy Birthday to former Los Angeles Ram offensive lineman and Hall of Famer Jackie Slater who turns 61 today.
