(Carson)- The Galaxy scored three goals in a 21 minute span in the first half and went on to rout Portland 5-0 Wednesday night before 21, 207 at StubHub Center.

The Galaxy has been on an offensive tear over the last three games scoring 16 goals during that span. Even if you discount the six goal outburst last Wednesday against PSA Elite, LA has still piled up ten goals in the last two games.

Sebastian Lletget started the surge with a goal 13 minutes in as he poked one in from the left side. Robbie Keane, who had a hat trick against PSA Elite scored five minutes later as he rifled one in on a free kick. Robbie Rogers extended the lead to 3-0 in the 33rd minute as he beat Timbers goalkeeper Adam Larsen Kwarasey off of a nice feed from Keane. For Rogers, it was his first goal in a Galaxy uniform.

The Galaxy had nine shots on goal overall in the first half and five on target. Portland did manage to get seven shots on goal but none were on target or had a chance to get by Galaxy goalkeeper Jaime Penedo.

After some missed opportunities early in the second half, including one that Gyasi Zardes fired just high, the Galaxy added another one. Juninho eluded a Portland defender and found the net in the 72nd minute.

Penedo made a nice save of a Timber blast in the 82nd minute and another in the 90th minute just before one minute of additional time was added.

In between, in the 88th minute, Jose Villarreal, who had replaced Juninho, joined the party with LA’s fifth goal of the night.

LA ended up with 17 shots overall compared to 16 for Portland but the Galaxy had nine on target to only one for the Timbers.

With the victory, the Galaxy improved to 7-5-7 while the Timbers dropped to 7-6-4.
