1.) El Monte volleyball HC Kendra Navarro turns 36 today.

2.) On this date in 2013: Brian Wilson, who had 171 saves in seven years with the Giants, signs a one-year, $1 million contract with the Dodgers.

3.) Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban turns 57 today.

6.) On this date in 1981: The seven-week MLB players’ strike came to an end when the players and owners agreed on the issue of free agent compensation.

7.) The Seattle Seahawks and Russell Wilson agree to a 4-year/$87.6-million contract with up to $60-million guaranteed. He will become the second highest paid quarterback in the NFL behind Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers.

8.) Jon Richter, son of NFL HOFer (former Ram) Les Richter, agrees with Hall of Fame’s policy on family not speaking at induction ceremony for a deceased loved one.

9.) Andre Miller, 39, will play his 17th NBA season as a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves. The T-Wolves will be his ninth team.
